Week 12

Post by heznfire on Aug 9, 2012 14:18:09 GMT -5
#7 Texas A&M - 47 Alabama - 31
This was a seesaw battle in the first half as Alabama surprised me by coming out in shotgun and spreading the ball across the field, neglecting running back Eddie Lacy. This must have been a strategical move as AJ McCarron was brilliant most of the day, and they avoided my rush defense -- statistically ranked the best in the nation. With under a minute left in the second quarter, Alabama capitalized on an interception by my backup quarterback -- my starter was knocked out of the game early in the first quarter -- to take a 17-14 lead.
Then, for the next seven minutes of gameplay, everything broke my way. With 20 seconds left, I exploited an Alabama busted coverage in the middle of the field for a 74-yard touchdown pass. Using their available timeouts, Alabama was able to move to my 41-yard line with a second remaining. Rather than attempting the Hail Mary, the Tide attempted a 58-yard field goal, which fell short. My returner, Ryan Swope, caught the missed field goal seven yards deep in the end zone and returned it all the way for a 107-yard touchdown return to give A&M a 28-17 lead at halftime. It was quite the turn of events.
In the third quarter, my defense registered a safety for the third straight week after my punter pinned Alabama inside their own five-yard line. I then proceeded to score another touchdown on the following possession, taking a 37-17 lead into the fourth quarter. At that point, I played prevent defense, allowing Alabama to tack on two more touchdowns, but I added 10 points of my own to earn the win, clinch the SEC West, and secure a spot in the SEC Championship Game.
I'll see you in a few weeks, Ozi. This will be the first time you will have the higher rated team, so I'm expecting some fireworks.

Is it wrong that I am somewhat happy that digi-Michigan lost? Also, killacam has the opportunity to knock off USC next week! That would be a huge help.
