Bjams and I just played a very hard-fought game in the Fiesta Bowl. Tennessee 28 - 20 Utah. This game went back and forth, with both defenses stepping up in a big way. Both teams relied on big plays early to stretch the defenses, because long drives weren't going to happen against these front sevens.
Probably the biggest turning point in the game came with under 4 minutes left. Tennessee played some Lloyd ball and punted from Utah's 42 on 4th and 2. The Vols pinned the Utes at their own and forced a three and out. From there, Davonte Bourque took a long run to the house and the Utes faced an eight-point deficit with under 35 seconds left. The Vols forced an interception to kill any remaining hopes of a Utah comeback.
Great game, bjams. You and I always play close ones and this one was no different.

That was a classic....great game beef. Wishing I wouldn't have thrown that INT that led to your go ahead score. I was on the verge of FG range, but, my kicker sucks (pretty sure he had his career long in this game) and I felt like I had to pass to get closer. The only upside is this was my best season yet and I'm returning a lot of the same talent next year, so, hoping I can actually get a Bowl win next season. It would help if I'd actually draw a CPU match up for once!

I kind of figured I forced you into a passing situation, so I think you still made the right choice to pass. I just got lucky coming away with the pick.

Let me preface this by saying I love the league and how things are going and Hez has been lights out as commissioner but as a guy who coaches, runs trips, fantasy leagues, sports leagues etc.. I can't stop myself from looking for improvement so just read it and consider it. If the majority is fine with how things are going I'm fine as well just how I am. I'll probably always throw my 2 cents in every year don't take any offense.
1. When we started this season we agreed to take lesser teams and go Heisman mode to make it more challenging and create match up issues as opposed to everyone lining up 22 5 stars. Well 1 look at the recruiting rankings show that didn't take long. It won't slow down form here as user teams litter the top 10. My proposal is to limit the quality of the recruits. I'm open to the numbers but my thinking was along these lines.
BCS 1-10-Only allowed to sign 5 recruits each year 4 star or higher. BCS 11-25- Only allowed to sign 7 recruits each year 4 star or higher. BCS Unranked- Unlimited but good luck finding that many 4 stars if you're unranked.
It really puts a premium on scouting and plugging in the weaknesses of your team. There are plenty of 3 star gems out there so you can still recruit plenty of talent.
1a. If this is rejected I think for your scholarship penalties for oversigning should be in this mode and not quantity. "Due to the fact you oversigned you are penalized by only having half your recruiting class be 4 stars" Something like that. Far more penal than numbers.
2. North Carolina St is facing a talent cliff. Nobody ever answers my question about the autorecruiting but Quinn needs some talent asap. It appears from reading the game reviews Quinn has got the hang of the game down at least offensively and has come close to winning some user games. What do you think about letting him upgrade his team in the ACC to let him be more competitive? He'll have no chance this year with the team as it currenly sits.
Please Discuss.

I'm fine with Quinn switching teams if he wants to. I encourage him to. I would suggest Va Tech, Florida State, Clemson for him to change to.

Ziff, interesting proposals. I think the 4-star reductions won't be as effective as you think, though, because 3 stars are often just as good and the classes at the top of the recruiting rankings have capitalized on several 3* gems.
I think we need more user matchups.

How we looking to advance tonight? Also guys, anyone have any objections to sitting down sometime Sunday and knocking out this off-season out in one shot? I know we've done it a few times in '12 and I just think it works better than 1 step per day. Plus I'm sure everyone is ready to get the next season started, lot of you are pretty excited about your recruiting classes and the "Next ones up" . Just a thought.
